I should really introduce myself, I am a medical student in the UK, and have decided to keep a weekly diary of my experiences in medical school and observations of life in general.

But why have I decided to do this you ask? Good question. Did any of you watch the programme Grumpy Old Men? Well, I have been described by a couple of friends as a bit of a grumpy old man of the future, mainly due to the fact that I bitch a lot about various things, and so rather than subject them to it, I've decided to vent my 'bitching' into a rather more productive activity...i.e. this blog.

So is this just going to be a page of me bitching then? Why no dear reader, I will also be sharing my experiences for the benefit of anyone who may be considering to persue a career in medicine. I hope that by enlightening you to the true nature of such a life decision, you may be better informed before you jump feet first into the metaphorical deep end of a swimming pool of shit.

At some stage in the near future I will provide a full update on where I am in my medical training, and all the 'grumpy old' observations I wish to share thusfar. But for now, I will just leave you with a random selection of my likes and dislikes, just so you can get to know me a little better:

Likes: Indian food, Thai food, Chinese food (in that order), 24, laughing (I will pretty much laugh at anything), family guy, south park, the simpsons, cold beer, napping (one day I'll explain 'nap club'), being at home from uni and being 'mothered', online poker, any night out with 'cheggers', and other stuff that basically revolves around being a lazy bastard...oh and 'the c word'.

Dislikes: where to start...old people trying to operate cash machines, the north, people that use "lol" far too much, tight underwear, lufthansa, anything with more than 4 legs (spiders, insects etc.), various groups of people I've come across during medical training (will elaborate in future posts), smoking in enclosed public places (roll on July 1st), public transport, vegetarians, the gym (although I have no choice and have to go!), and plenty other things which aren't immediately coming into my head.

I'll leave you with this, it brought a smile to my face...www.youtube.com/watch?v=Izet8zN1vmE (Roy Walker is a legend)
